Lubeck

This am we woke up at 10 am, his Aunt had already set a spread for us consisting of bread rolls, meats, cheeses, strawberries, creamy cheese spreads, hard boiled eggs and water. It was quite delicious, we then showered packed and headed to the hauptbanhauf for lubeck (jens' home town). It again is rainy today. Arrived to Lubeck at about 230 and we got the walking tour from the train station to his house built in 1760. Its gorgeous and complete with creeky floors and sloping stairs. We dropped our bags ( i got the guest room above the archway connectin the main road with the houses located behind his house--its about the size of the closet underneath the stairs that harry potter lived in, but its my own space so im not complaining one bit!) We then had cake with his Father and sister Greta (it was Max--his brothers birthday on tuesday). Best cake ive ever had. there were small strawberry topped chocollate cakes and then marzipan covered pudding filled chocolate mini cakes. i had one of both andthey were both excellent for totally different reasons. we then put on our rain coats and headed through Lubeck. Lubeck has a skyline complete with 7 steeples. We went inside 2 churcches the first was the old cathedral and the second was the game/crafstman cathedral which ws spectacular--gothic and flying buttresses. both were destroyed by WWII and rebuilt. crazy to think of that! we then continud our walking tour through the old downtown and to the gate (which is the second most famous gate in germany aside from the brandenburg gate) we went into the museum which explained how Lubeck--which is actually an island was erected in the 1300s and had a fake canal and a real canal and walls protecting it from invaders. Napolean succeeded in overtaking Lubeck in the ...1500s i think and then wwii completely demolished 60% of the town. at 6pm we went to Miera for dinner, ( a super nice restaurant) and had our own private room and jens had to inerpret the menu for me.... then after we decided i ws having fish, thinly sliced beef with tuna (for an appetizer) and creme bruelee for dessert, the owner came down and said they had caught a fish that is lare enough for six or seven people and were curious if we were interested. They then brought the huge fish to our table to make sure it was goin to be okay with us. Then appetizers came, mine was WONDERFUL. Jens ordered mozerella with tomatos (also good) and then they prepared the fish. Once we were done with appetizers they brought the giant fish down and cut it right there for us. we also got salad and potatoes. The fish was WONDERFUL (only one bone) then after awhile, the dessert came. Creme Bruelee=AMAZING. This was my one super nice meal i get a year (to replace the one we didnt get for qualifier tear down this year at Ruths Cris....Curt, Ill get the name and address of this place and we can come here next year ;-) ) After dinner we headed to a local pub and spoke english with his brother Max before Jens and I came home and went to bed. ... at 1230 for once!! I stilll cant et oer how amazing the dinner was.... mmmmm
